Commitments
Commitment ceremonies are designed for couples who, for a variety of reasons, do not wish to, or are not able to marry.
They are designed specifically for:
· Australian couples who have married overseas, but who would like to involve family and friends in a meaningful local ceremony;
· Couples who wish to make a lifelong commitment to each other, but do not see the need to marry; and also
· Gay and lesbian couples who feel strongly about making a public and lifelong commitment to each other.
In these instances, the Celebrant is not able to solemnise a marriage. However, I can help you and your partner design a wonderful ceremony that reflects your own personal dreams.
The planning process for commitment ceremonies is as comprehensive as designing an individual wedding ceremony. A commitment ceremony does not underrate or diminish the depth of meaning of a relationship and the emotional devotion between partners.
Your ceremony can include readings by family members and friends. It can also incorporate important cultural elements from your respective backgrounds.
If you feel passionately about each other, it will give me great joy to develop a unique celebration which does justice to you both.
While I may not be able to pronounce you husband and wife, it would give me great pleasure to pronounce you soul mates. Together with your friends and family, we could organise a special blessing for you both.
I have included an easy step guide to planning your own Commitment Ceremony to help you plan your special day.
